Hello guys and girls.

I just want to say it looks like I am at the right place....(everyone here seems very knowledgable)....and I also want to say HELP!!!!

I recently(yesterday), moved into the 6.1 ex-es thx world, by buying a kenwood vr 6070...after getting it set up properly, or at least to my satisfaction (which is no easy task in itself), I sat down and attempted to program the pronto.(first checking that I had the latest firmware and PE version).....YIKES....
I am having a heck of a time doing this....first off,
the codes that are captured successfully barely work(volume, dsp mode, etc), but whats worse is that when programming buttons, the pronto will suddenly reboot when trying to capture the code....this is SOOO frustrating...I was up until 330 am trying to defeat this....what am I missing??? (I have had my pronto for 3 years...and have used 4 different recievers with it)...do I have any recourse???...Can someone please HELP!!!!

If you are learning the codes directly using ProntoEdit then DONT. Always learn on the Pronto then upload.

Check everybody's batteries.
Particularly if using the Dock/Battery Pack, remove & reseat the batteries in the Pronto.
Reflash the firmware. (I know you said you did already . . . do it again, can't hurt).
Play around with distance and angle between OEM Remote & Pronto.
Are you holding the OEM Button down until the Pronto says OK?

Ok guys......I think i am defeated!!!!
This process simply will not work!!!
First off...I need to understand.......
WHY THE HECK IS THE PRONTO REBOOTING ALMOST EVERY TIME I TRY TO LEARN A NEW CODE FROM THE KENWOOD REMOTE!!!!!?????....even when I do get a successful learn, the button or command STILL doesn't work!!!!

Is there something wrong with my pronto?....Am I the only one with a kenwwod vr 6070???....has anyone else experienced this type of PITA isuue!???

I have changed ALL batteries...(even the pronto's...and it uses the rechargable one!)....I have reflashed the firmware....I have played with different angles and distances.....it simply does not work!!!!
IS there something sooo special with these kenwood codes???....is it time for a new remote(I hope not!)...
SOMEBODY PLEASE WHAT IS GOING ON!!!

I am sorry for the rant....it is born out of FRUSTRATION!!!

Have you tried any of the other Kenwood Receiver CCFs in the Files Section? Even though there is not one for the 6070 in particular, try those that are close to it . . . for that matter, try any & all of them.

Kenwood Receiver

Try removing everything 'Kenwood' from the CCF and then reload it into the Remote. Does it still continue acting the same way? And try it vice-versa, with a Kenwood ONLY CCF and see what happens.

There is a remote around that crashes a Pronto when learning a particular button, but I don't think it's a Kenwood.

Ok guys....THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!!

I loaded the ccf files for the vr 2090...and got a lot of the functionality I needed....its not everything, and I am missing some of the DSP,THX,and input listening mode functionality, but I do have the basics that I can live with for now!......
I am still at a loss as to why I was experiencing this constant reboot when learning a button...perhaps one of us will have an answer one day soon... the remote by the is the kenwood RC-R0813......
Thanks again guys!

I have the exact same issue. I had my TS1000 Pronto and it works fine with all my components. Then I got my VR6070 from Kenwood, and half the time when I try to learn codes directly to the Kenwood remote, the Pronto will shut down and reboot, after making a nasty beep. Also, when I DO manage to get some codes learned, some will not work, and others will work sporatically, or just once. This is crazy!

Well, I wrote Philips about this, and they said to change the properties of the receiver remote category to RC6 instead of the RC5 that is defaults to. I haven't tried it yet. I have noticed that if I try 5-10 times, I will eventually get a "learn OK" that does not reboot the thing. Also, this may have been luck, but it SEEMED to work better when I held it a foot or more away from the pronto when pressing the kenwood remote's buttons to learn the pronto. So far, I think I've learned most everything from the Kenwood now.
