Sorry Andy, no Sony VCR or cable box. But I do have on/off codes for the following:
RCA SVHS VCR....device(060) ON(483) OFF(731)
RCA DSS.........device(566) ON(483) OFF(731)
Sony GX67ES Rx..device(158) ON(591) OFF(621)

I could NOT, however, find codes for my Sony CDP-CX250 CD player, bummer!

Steve,

Thank you for the Sony TV on/off codes. They worked fine on my Sony TV, which was not an XBR, so hopefully they will work on Sony TVs for others also.

Thanks again. You have made my life easier:}

While not what I would consider an "expert" on IR codes, I am aware that there are many standards and they are generally based on what is known as an executor (base of some sort).
We had recent occassion to have one of the all in one type companies learn some codes for a piece of equipment only to find that the mfr had created an unknown executor, requiring teh company to create the new executor to provide compatability to our equipment...major time/pain.
On a positive note, most products are some derivative of existing executors and are available on the all in one products by using what are known as "extended" or "magic" codes. This simply makes the remote create a code based upon an X/Y lookup from an internal code table.
For those looking for codes, have you checked with the "other" guys to see if their remotes can so the codes, because if they can, Pronto should be able to learn them also.

I'm not sure if anyone is following this thread anymore (in anticipation of the upcoming software), but I was hoping that either Andy or Steve Mahon would respond. I also have a Sony XBR TV. I purchased a "One for All Cinema 7" remote at the local Costco ($15 CDN) in order to incoporate the suggested on and off codes into my Pronto. Unfortunately, both codes; 369 & 621, turn the the TV off and on (not seperately). I have a Sony XBR (squared) 96 - 32". Maybe I'm doing something wrong, although I believe I'm close. Any suggestions would be welcome!
Thanks!!

Just some input relevant to people searching for on-off seperate codes.. Why even have seperate on-off codes??? I have a dvd, ld, sat, amp, webtv, cd changer and tv all on one "power on" macro and I have one "power off" macro that takes me to the "power on" macro screen ready for the next time I power on. I see no problem wih powering on the entire system.

One reason for discrete "on" and "off" codes is for use with macros. For example, you might want to create a "play DVD movie" macro. Well, the first step in a macro like this is to power on all necessary devices. However, if you are already watching TV and then hit the button for that macro, a toggle "on/off" power command would turn everything on (if not already on) but the TV, which would be switched off. On the other hand, if a discrete "on" power signal is sent to a TV which is already on, then nothing happens. This way the macro will be effective whether the TV is on or off.

Hey Alex, I've been using those codes on a
46RPTV, but I just tried them on my 32XBR45
and they work there also. Actually they work on
two other SONY's as well. I do know I had to
try a few times to get the Oneforall (6 in 1 i think) to put out something my TV would respond to. After relearning the codes a couple/three
times it worked. Also make sure you press the
device key (TV) on the OFA remote before you
hit the keys you taught 369/621.
