Hi,
Does anyone know the code that I can use to link my atlas dvr/pvr 5 device to my bose accoustimass 5 stereo system? I tried all the codes in the manual and also from the Atlas website.
Thanks,
Tako

From what I can tell from reading the user manual, the Accoustimass is a speaker system that you connect to a separate amplifier or receiver, so you would want your remote to control the amplifier, not the speakers.

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the quick response. Sorry, but I don't know much about electronics. I have a Samsung 550 TV that I'm using the Bose speakers/amplifier with since the Samsung speakers on the TV aren't that good. So should I use the remote to control the speakers on the Samsung TV?
Thanks,
Tako

You describe the Bose as "speakers/amplifier", but the user manual makes it sound like it's just speakers. They describe how you should hook them up to a separate amplifier. So what is it, just speakers or speakers and an amp?

Did the Bose come with a remote? If not, I suspect that it's not remote controlable. How do you adjust the volume today with your setup?

Yes, the Bose I have is actually a stereo system with 2 speakers and a bass unit. It came with a remote with buttons (tuner/video/tape/aux/cd). The manual says to connect the audio from the TV to the audio of the Bose. And I press the "video" button on the bose remote, then press the volume up to increase the volume when I watch TV. I hope this helps.

That's VOL+ on the Bose remote, not the TV remote, right?

Do you know if the Bose remote is an RF or IR remote? IR remotes will either have a "window" or an LED visible on the top of the remote, RF remotes usually have a solid casing. Another way to tell is if you can use the Bose remote from another room, it's an RF remote, if you have to be in front of the device, it's an IR remote.

If it's an RF remote, you won't be able to get the Atlas to work the Bose. If it's an IR remote you might be able to control the Bose with the Atlas, but it would probably require a JP1 upgrade.

I would be willing to look at this if you like, for a small fee. If you were to send me your Atlas and your Bose remote, I will capture the signals from the Bose and create an upgrade which I will load into the Atlas. I would charge $10 plus $5 return postage. If for some reason I am not able to replicate the Bose signals, I won't charge you the $10 fee but you would still need to pay for the postage.

Yes, I would press the VOL+ on the Bose remote, and not the TV remote. When I press VOL+ on the TV remote, nothing happens.

I believe the Bose remote is a RF remote because I think the manual said that I can be in another room and use that remote to control the Bose system. But I'll confirm that when I get home just to make sure.

Thanks,
Tako

If it is RF, and there's nothing in the manual about the device responding to IR signals (some of the Lifestyle models have a feature where you can teach the IR signals to a learning remote), then you're SOL I'm afraid, you'll just have to keep using 2 remotes.

Hi Rob,
Thanks so much for all your help and quick responses. Unfortunately my BOSE is an older model and uses a RF remote. So as you indicated, I guess I'm forced to use 2 remotes. Oh well.
Thanks,
Tako
