Does anyone know what the advanced code for the "A.F.D" button on this receiver's remote is? I am using device code 0158 on my 2138. Also, if an advanced code for this button is not available, can someone explain how to make the 2138 "learn" this button from the receiver's remote? Thanks in advance.

Ron, if he's using setup code 0158, then his receiver is set to AV1.:)

edmund, I figured that, but his remote may not be set to AV1, which may be the reason why he can't learn the command, unless he means he just doesn't know how to learn a command on his 2138, but I figured I would go with the easy one first.

The A.F.D key sounds like a DSP button, which give all remotes problems.

Both the remote and the receiver are set to AV1, and yes I know how to make the 2138 learn a command. However it does not seem to want to "learn" the AFD key...which is why I posted the message in the first place. So...if anyone has had any luck with this, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I set my Sony STR-DE597 receiver to AV1 and was able to configure my 15-2117 to turn the receiver on and off, using code 1258 (Aux), but very few other buttons worked. The same result with code 0158.
Then I tried to learn the A.F.D. and Movie/Music buttons but as mentioned above, "The A.F.D key sounds like a DSP button, which give all remotes problems." the 15-2117 would not learn it. So, no problem, I tried to use the Sony remote and in the AV1 mode none of its buttons work.
Question: Is there away to use both remotes, specifically, the RS to turn the receiver on and off and the Sony remote for on and off and,,,surround sound settings?
Thanks, Kerry

The answer to your question is no. Your model of receiver, the oem remote is stuck in AV2 mode, and the 2117 doesn't have a code AV2 mode. There is a code for AV2 mode, its preset in the ofa urc-6131, its 1758. And you get the ofa 9910 or UEI HT-PRO, which are RF remotes that have a built-in modem, so you could have code 1758 loaded over the phone.

Hi edmund:

Just so I'm reading you correctly; a solution is to buy another brand of remote control that would do all that my 2117 does plus allow for on/off of the receiver and learn a few receiver buttons?
Thanks, Kerry

That is what I was suggesting. You could go the JP1 route, add the AV2 code to you 2117 yourself. The 2117 can learn about 25 or so commands for the whole remote, keep the receiver set to AV2, learn what you can to the 2117, and keep the oem remote handy.

Thanks edmund,
I've got the essential functions working with AUX code 1258. The one thing I can't do is turn the receiver on and off via the RS remote. Still, that's pretty good.
Thank you for your support.

Is there still no way to get the AFD button on these remotes? I've done a lot of reading but can't seem to come up with anything.

I've only skimmed over this thread but I recently got a radio shack remote and managed to get AFD working on my Sony STR-DE930. Try looking here for help: [Link: hifi-remote.com]
