I was looking for an inexpensive remote for my girlfriend's father to use in his home theater and after looking a few threads here I thought the Radio Shack 1994 was the way to go. I got one and I have to say it works great and has a great feel to it especially given the cost. However, I am shocked to see no source button for dvd players!

He is using a Panasonic DVDA110. Does anyone know of a code I could use or how I can operate this dvd player from this remote at all? I would rather not use the smart keys since I think this would confuse him a bit.

Thanks for any help.

JP,

You will be supprised to learn that the manual for the remote did not even cover 1/3 of the capability of the remote. This remote can be programed, support macros, support learning. Also you can enter advance codes into the remote.

You can use the AUX 1 or AUX2 for DVD, but 1st you have to map it into a VCR device. Then you can use the 0490 code for your Panasonic DVD. By some reason, RS decided to call DVD players LD players.

The 15-1994 is essentially a One-for-All URC-6800. There is a good (and long) thread about this remote in the universal remote forum:

Also the official progaming guide for the URC-6800 can be found here:

A good source for advanced codes:

Good luck,

Zhe, geez don't know what I would have done without you here. This is a great remote. It is just too bad they just dropped the ball on the manual. It took me a bit to figure out how to redirect (map) the key as you explained and then finally I figured out how to wipe out the VCR key after mapping the dvd information so I could then put the VCR code back in so that the VCR would work but now all is well. Thanks again. I do shutter to think of the explaining I will have to do when the batteries go dead and everything is lost :)

From page 8 of my copy of the manual:

>NOTE: Removing the batteries will not require
>you to reprogram your remote control because the
>Cinema 7 has unlimited memory backup.

The RS remote won't lose the info either. RTFM. =)

Be fair, Mr. Beetle. "RTFM" may apply to most
things, but considering what's been learned in
this message board so far about the highly
omissive manual, I wouldn't fault him for not
Reading The...Full...Manual. In fact, I think
perhaps BTFM would be more apropos, i.e. BURN
The...Full...Manual. :)
