Wondering if it's possible to increase the voltage going to the Neo, The sticker on the back says 6V however 3 AA alkalines in series only put out about 4.5 volts. With NIMH it gets even worse with only 3.6 volts. I am wondering if this might make the Backlight brighter. Any thoughts?

I know it would not work on the Pronto since the screen does not get power directly from the batteries.

what happens when the batteries are weak, does the backlight become dimmer, if not then stronger batteries will not help
...

Yes you are probably right, It should have a small regulator to prevent over voltage. I am just curious as to why they have the 6V listed on the back. I don't have a power supply handy, but I can rig up an adjustable regulator to do some experimenting. May have a go with it anyway to see what happens. I will put a post here if I do it.
