I downloaded some files for my NEO and when i open them up it says it can't open this type of file. Do i need to download an emulator or what?

I'm not completely sure what you are asking. However, in case you don't know the regular Pronto files (extension .ccf) are different from the ProntoNEO files (extension .ncf).
A program called NEOedit is used to edit the .ncf files (and send them to your Neo). That should have come on a CD with the remote, and you can get a newer version from the Philips pronto web site.
As far as I know, there is no reasonable way to open a .ccf file in NEOedit. For that you need ProntoEdit, which will not connect to your Neo.
