I'm looking for a discrete on-code for my RCA DVD player (RC5231Z). I have a discrete off code, so I have a work-around (off, then on), but a discrete on code would be better.

I found a discrete off code specifically for the RC5231Z in the Pronto files area and converted it to a Neo code using Neo Hacker and later with the Pronto-2-Neo XLS spreadsheet (then entered with NeoHacker). When I try the code, it doesn't seem to work (absolutely nothing happens on the DVD player).

I also found another discrete off code for RCA DVD players (no specific model number noted) and tried that as well. It looked like a close copy of the one above, except that almost every number (except the first few and the last one) was one or two less - a slightly faster frequency I guess. (For example 001d 0039 001d 0073 vs 001c 0037 001c 0072.) This one didn't work either.

I assume the code works for the Pronto owner who owns a 5231Z and posted the first code above. What could I be doing wrong? Any suggestions to make this work with my Neo?

Thanks in advance!

The newest version of NeoHAcker(0.7)lets you input the Pronto Hex code into it, so no need for the XLS spreedsheet. That might help.

Also, I have read the using the Play button also works to turn on some DVD players..

Thanks for the reply, I put it in with NeoHacker first, and when that didn't work, I used the spreadsheet just in case (it looked like it produced the same code, but I tried it just to be sure).

I tried the play trick and it didn't work. Thanks for that suggestion though. This is a pretty old DVD player (it's actually a DIVX player - remember those?!). I want to get a new one anyway for progressive scan - maybe this is just one more reason :)

With the prices of Progressive less ten $350 now, would be better then the Divx.. :)

Funny to how Curcit City was the one to carry them and then the first to get rid of the VCR's.. hehe

Good luck
