I just received a replacement Neo from Philips (the first one was broken) and I have still two problems with the new one. And I had also the same problems with the faulty unit (among others). First of all, the setup shows all the time that there is 100 % memory available even if I have downloaded a ncf file to my Neo. According to my knowledge that file should use some space.. Is someone famialiar with this problem?
Second, after I have reset my Neo, my personal settings (ncf file etc.) is not deleted, so Neo is still working the same way as before reseting it.

Does anyone know if these are common problems with Neos? As I mentioned, I have my second unit in my hands both of them bahaved the same way. I'm living in Europe, so the Neo model RU-930 (if that has something to do with it).

1. I've never checked the Memory available, since I still don't have the limit reached (even with 6 5 Devices an own pictures)

2. The reset seems to be not a factory preset reset.
It just resets the Neo, when it's hung.

But my Problem is, that the Neo restets, when the batteries are getting low.

1) I've never seen my NEO report anything but 100% available. Weird, huh?

2) reset is used to reset the device when the CPU is hung. This happens more often for some than others. It does not erase the memory. Sometimes the NEO is so hung that reset doesn't fix it. Popping a battery out and in will do the job though. I've gotten to the point where that's what I do since it's easer than finding a pin to stick in that tiny hole.

I have the standard TSU-500. I don't see either of these as actually being a problem.

Is this really the case with all Neos? That is weird if so. Atleast I'd like to know how much there is memory available at each point.




A stupid question: could you tell me what does "hung" meen in this context? I don't and my dictionary doesn't know the word..

I also had some promblems with my Neo, a week ago a have change it for a Pronto. And that one works perfect.

Not a stupid question at all, sorry I used slang in my reply.
The neo is "hung" when it doesn't respond to any button presses (hard buttons or touch screen). It acts like it's dead.

I believe all Neo's will only show 100% memory even though it obviously is less. Mine did the same. Probably a future firmware update will fix this. My Neo would "hang" alot on NIMH's, going back to Alks solved the problem for me. Regards, Butch

I have been using alkalines all the time and my first Neo did still freeze. I think the problem cannot have anything to do with the batteries you're using. Maybe the new firmware version would be welcome and solve the problem. Let's just wait for the Santa..

Well, I "think" the problem had to do with the NIMH's on my remote due to the fact the hangs stopped when I went to the Alks, tested this one more time with NIMH's and the hangs started again. Back to Alk's and the problem stopped. Maybe not the most scientific test, (using PowerEX 1800 )but I know what worked on my Neo. Good luck to TheMule in finding your problem. Regard, Butch

I have to agree with Butch. I had no problems when using Alk batteries. I, decided to use NIMH batteries to save some money. Once I started using NIMH, the problems started. My neo would lock up several times a week. Banging my head and asking WTF? I thought I may have had a corrupted ncf. But thinking back, it all started after I put in the NIMH's. So I went back to ALK, the problem stopped. Go figure! It may be because a NIMH, I, think loses about 10% of its power / day. Something like that. It never happened after a full charge just a couple days after. Something to look at.

As I mentioned earlier my faulty Neo freezed also with alcalines. I used the alcaline batteries that came with Neo when I bought it (I have the European model RU-930, I am not sure if there are batteries in TSU-500 box). So far my replacement unit has not freezed and I hope She will be working good also in the future.

Well, I read somewhere that NIMH batteries do not work as well in low drain applications such as a Neo. Their low internal resistance lends very well to high drain apps like digital cameras, MP3 players, etc. This may have something to do with it, who knows. If it turns out that the batteries are not the cause, has anyone tried to reflash the firmware? Worth a try.
