Okay, I just ordered the TSU-500 and should be getting it in a day or so. But I see some probs here and there and was wondering if this remote has alot of problems? Im just going to do basic stuff w/ it (although I know Ill screw w/ it once I get used to it, thats a given :) My Setup consistes of a new Samsung 32" HDTV, Samsung DVD-P421 DVD Player, Sony 5.1 STR-DE915 (its like 3-4 years old now), Standard Sony VCR, Scenetific Atlantic? Adelphia Digital Cable box and a Xbox DVD Remote. Now I had the Sony RM-AV2000 remote and am selling it to help pay for the new remote mentioned above.

Do any of you think I will have any problems with any of these? All I want to do is customize the look for each deivce to mimic its real remote (i.e. name all the buttons the same n what not) and thats about it. maybe throw some channel icons in there for the wife (speaking of is the reason I have to keep it simple or Ill get my ass handed to me). May seem like a stupid post, but I just wanted to make sure b4 I get it and want to return it right away, afterall its not cheap. Thanks for your time.

Nick

Ill list my stuff here so its easier to read:

Samsung TXL 3276 HDTV(earlier model of the new TXM3296HF)

Sony VHS (Standard, about 3-4 yrs old)

Samsung DVD-P421 DVD Player (somewhat new)

Sony STR-DE915 (was top just b4 the STR-DE925 came out around 3-4 years ago)

Xbox (we all know that alittle under a year old, dvd remote)

Scientific Atlantic (not sure of the name, but its Adelphia's Digital Cable box, very standard remote)

Thats about it, so I was just trying to see if I would have any problems w/ any of my equipment and the TSU500 Neo remote. Again, All I want to do is listed abover, pretty striaght forward.

If I was you, I'd start DL all the NCF files here and on the Yahoo site. I think I've seen most of them devices in ncf files. The cable bos will be the best find, as I've read of problems with some of them. Sony remotes learn well to the Neo, and have seen a Xbox config out. Samsung am not sure about, though I have seen a few out there, but seem to have less discrete codes(advance)

One thing I'd do is layuout you setup before even begaining. Start by DL the newest firmware and software from Philips web site.

Yah, I already have the latest edit and firmware for the remote off of phillips website. Now, again Im new to this. The NCF files, do you kind of like, add them all in to the 1 config on the remote? Like one NCF file per device? What I mean is, say I have my own config done, then want to add the xbox controller NCF, can I just add that in and Im good to go? Or do I have to redo everything? I want to keep this simple as possible lol(who dosent), just dont want to get too complicated. I hope my Samsung remote learn well on this remote. Ill look around for some of the NCF files, but if you could just give me a few answers as to how this all goes together, id really appreciate it!!

I found a ncf for my Digital Cable box, and the one for my xbox. Now I hope that Samsung remotes learn well lol. Okay, when I opend the xbox one, there presets for the guys xbox, tv, reciever and all of that, do i need to keep those or is that just the button layouts he made? If I dont want them, can I just axe them all and redo it my way? Sorry for all the q's, I just need to understand alittle more b4 I start hacking away at it.

what that yahoo url again?

You can have as many NCF files open in NeoEdit. So you just use the "Copy & Paste" from one to yours. Edit as you wish, you are only doing this so you don't have to take the time to learn the ir code yourself :)

It is also wise to have a backup of your ncf somewhere else so you don't ruin it or in case NeoEdit crashes! You can copy whole devices, pages, or just one button.

Okay, spent all day making my setup. all i have to do is learn a few remotes and I should be good to go (provided my remotes learn well). One thing I forgot to do, how do I juse that cracked file so that I can make my own custom front page? I was just going to edit someone else's but when I go to save it dosent work anymore? Well again my remote is do in tomorrow, got delayed :( Im really looking forward to this. I was going to get the 2k pronto, but i dont like not having any hard buttons.

I have my ncf saved, luckily the only prob i have on WinXP Pro is that just once and a while the emulator wont close, but thats it :) Do you think Ill have to update the firmware when i get it? prob, who knows how long the store has had it. So when you go to learn mode, does it use your config you created while your learning the buttons you need to learn? thanks for the help guys, i really appreciate it!!

You will have to look on the remote to see what the firmware is, also, when you run the program it will check as well.

You can learn the codes to any NCF you want, I'd have the layout done, and just learn the codes to the buttons. Remember to up load the NCF after you have learned the codes!

What I did for the Overview page is create a device and layout what you want for the overview, but this is the last step you want to do. I have seen others use a device, per say, the cable box, as the overview screen. Just remember, when you move the device you use up to the Top of the Tree so that it becomes the overview, it will be lost..forever.

Thus make sure you have a backup of the file before moving it!

Okay. What I did was instead of messing w/ any cracking (since im so new) I made a dvice and called it HOME. So when it boots up, it will go to the standard device start up that the software creats. Then instead of picking the "cable box" ill click on HOME, there I have all the Cable, DVD, AV, TV graphic icons, and ill just go from there.

Yah, I just went through to make sure everything is linked and jumping where I want everything too, its all done except learning the remotes. Ok, one thing you said to learn the remotes, then load the ncf for my final look, how does that work? What I mean is, how do i learn the buttons for say the dvd player if i havent loaded the buttons in there? sorry for the q's, but i really appreciate your help man!! thanks so much!!

Lay out the buttons on a device page for the dvd remote, DL to the Neo, Learn the codes, UL to NEoEdit to save, Rearrange if needed, save file. Make a backup copy, open ncf in NeoHacker, set the device you named "Home" as the startup page, save, open in NeoEdit, don't do anything except DL to the Neo...and

Done..

Cool, Ill give it a shot. Sounds easy, just dl the button layout for that given remote, learn the buttons, upload back to my pc (change anything if needed) save it (I already made a b/u :) and just do over everytime for each remote. Cool, my bro is brining it up to work for me,just got delivered. Just wanted to know how to do it so Im not staring at it all pissed off lol.

Once I have it all done, saved and make another b/u, Ill do the neo hacker and make "Home" my default start up.

Steve, thanks for all the help, you have explained everything I needed to know (for the moment lol). Means alot. Ill post back later to know how it is going/went.

thanks again, nick
