Hi,

Just bought an ProntoNEO, but it refuses to learn codes from my Yamaha DVD S795 remote.
My old sony had never problems with this. (I placed new batteries in both remotes)

I too had difficulty with certian commands from certain remotes. My Pioneer DVD remote especially. Try leaving the button depressed on the remote for up to 10 secs.(the remote you are trying to learn from) Try different distances from the remotes. I varied it from 1 to 4 inches. With persistance the Neo managed to learn everything. Good Luck Butch

I tried & tried, but finally gave up. I don't think a universal remote I paid 289,- € for should give me this much trouble.
The NEO is just no good, in my opininion. I would be satisfied if it worked ok.

I returned the NEO and swapped it for a Pronto (not NEO). No learning problems with the Pronto.

Best regards,
Dennis

Sorry to hear your Neo didn't work out for you, but I hear what you are saying. I am just starting the second week of my 30 day "test drive" ( I purchased it from Best Buy ) and the jury is still out as far as I'm concerned. Which Pronto did you buy? The thing I don't like about ProntEdit is the fact it doesn't seem as "user friendly" as NeoEdit, but that could just be me. Good Luck. Butch

I agree with you on ProntoEdit. NeoEdit seems more simple and straight forward to use.
However, Tonto is nice too.

btw, I bought the Pronto RU940. (and it learns any code I feed it :-) )

I don't know, I like ProntoEdit more, on the other hand I have not used Neoedit since it early releases. (I hated that there were no short cuts)

The thing I like best about NeoEdit is you can have 2 or more configurations open at the same time. With Pronto edit you need to either merge or go through the gallery. No big deal, I guess but I like it better.

And you can drag & drop between the different pages.

The gallery seems to function better on NeoEdit too.

(I'm using a .ccf based an the RAV2000. In ProntoEdit the gallery is incomplete. In Tonto I can see all itmaps being used)

I saw a post over in the Pronto forum that might help... Somebody recommended taking black cardboard and rolling it into a tube, then cutting four slits in one end and using those slits to attach the tube to the Pronto (thereby keeping out any extra light). The original remote is held at the other end of the tube (about 1 or 2 feet away).

I haven't tried this yet, but I'm hopeful that it will work for my Neo...
