How frequently are you having to reset your Neo?

Seems I need to do it at least once a week and it's a pain since you loose the date/time when doing so.

I've not been able to put together any sort of use pattern that triggers the need for the reset.

I have the latest firmware too.

I'm also on the once a week schedule.

You will have to try to narrow it down a bit and post back with a least some info

Let me see. This weekend, I was using the third hard button under the display which I have set as my alternate channel button for my TV. For about 2 hours I was flipping back and forth between a baseball game and a movie. Once every 15 minutes or so I'd press that hard button and the channels would swap (i.e. I wasn't sitting there pounding on it). Went to flip and noticed it wasn't responding. Screen blank. No response from any buttons. Time for weekly reset.

Other times when it hangs, the display is active (though not necessarily lit) and it looks like it's stuck in transmit mode. As the first person mentioned there's no real pattern. For me, though, It will almost always follow the pressing of a hard button since I rarely use the touch screen.

Rather than mess with the hidden little hole for reset, I just pop a battery in/out. I'm more or less resigned to the date/time always being wrong.

I would say once a week is a conservative estimate for me.

How is this button configured? Is it from a device code or is it learned? Is there a macro to it? When programing mine I had set up a macro starting with a delay and it caused lock up problems. If it is learned, perhaps relearn it, Do you have a backup copy of your ncf, the file may have corrupted, you could try another copy of your file or a different file to try and narrow down the cause.

Actually, in this case, the a/ch button was learned by entering the product/vendor code for my RCA TV. It's an older one and most functions worked simply from entering the code. I had to learn very few...this wasn't one of them.

I don't suspect corrupted file. I upload/download frequently to try new tweaks.

I believe it's an interrupt timing issue with the hw/firmware. One thing I've noticed is that the NEO visibly slows down as the batteries start to wear down. I *think* it may hang more often with weak batteries. I haven't been keeping a journal on this issue though.

Do you never have to reset yours?

Mine requires resetting at least once a week.

I have run mine for 2 months straight without having to reset it. There was one time I downloaded new configs to the Neo and I had to reset it several times. I re-downloaded the file and haven't had to reset since. You may have a bad code on one or more of the buttons.

Unless making changes I never have to reset it, so other then a file problem if it is firmware/software I would think it would be happening to more people.

I never had this problem until I changed to a NIMH rechargable battery. Since I have been using them I have to reset weekly and sometimes more. I am going back to alkaline to see if it still happens.

I too am running NIMH and mine just hung up today for the first time. I have only had this thing for 5 days so I hope this isn't going to be a trend. Any one else with any ideas. Butch

I have had to reset my Neo twice so far, i have found
the reset problem usually happens if you press to many
buttons too fast, and if the batteries are getting low.
The icon for music/signal etc will lock up in the top
right corner of the unit.

flybyu,

Thanks for pointing out about the IR status icon in the top right corner "locking" when this happens.

This is the type of lockup that originally got me to start this thread. Anyone else posting please be sure you are doing so in response to lockup when the IR activity icon actually is locked.

No problems since I have been using alkaline batteries.
