I just got my NEO, and one of the reasons I chose the NEO over a Sony was the computer connect capability of the NEO which the Sony lacks. But I don't know how to take advantage of the ncf files. There is probably an easy solution for this, but when I downloaded an NCF file for a Sony CDP-CX400 to my computer, and then to my NEO, it changed my entire configuration, and not just the CD functions. Is there a way to just change the CD functions?

No, when you download a file, everything is change. And the date and time is reset...

You have to use NeoEdit to open both your current ncf file and the new Sony ncf file you wish to copy from. Then cut and paste buttons or pages from the Sony ncf file to your ncf file. Then download to your Neo.

After spending several hours working with this remote and the accompanying software, I am considering returning it. You cannot save changes to the display layout, so the Cable button is always on a different page than the TV button (a real drawback for me). Very few of the pre-programmed codes work at all, and the ones that do control very few functions, so that you must "teach" the remote the functions you want it to have. I realize this remote may be perfect for some people, and I do not intend to demean their choice, but I don't like it at all. Unless I have some sort of "flash of understanding" in the next few days, this $200 pain in the butt is going back from whence it came....steve

I, felt the same way about the remote also when I got it. However, after playing around with it and neoedit, this thing can do anything, add, delete buttons, add pictures of your devices, etc. I, recommend keeping it you won't be dissapointed. It is time consumming though so patients is needed.

Stevestoy,

You cannot change the display layout, however using NeoHacker you can work around this. In NeoEdit create a new device and make a custom display page just the way you want it. Save you changes and then open this file in NeoHacker. Highlite the new device you want to be you display page and click on "action" and then "set as start up device", then save this new file. Now open this file with NeoEdit and download it to you Neo.

Jon

p.s. Don't save this file with NeoEdit or it will go back to the old startup page.

Thanks for the tips. I really do appreciate the advice. I got kinda frustrated with whole thing as you could probably tell from my previous post ;-) I'm going to play around with it some more, and see what I can do with it.
