I though I was the proud new owner of a Pronto Neo TSU500 only to get home and install the software and then find out that I have to download a newer version.

Thank heavens I was referred to this web site. After dowloading NeoEdit 1.3 I was anxious to try and program my new remote. Only to find out that it won't recognize my serial port (which is working fine). I have tried all of Philips suggestions (unplugging and disabling any Palm devices). What gets me really upset is their lack of support on the unit. Seems to me if they want you to pay $200 for an item then all the support should come with it. And if it doesn't it should say so on the darn box! But no! They leave it up to the individual to decipher that laywer jargin in the license agreement . . . which we all know nobody reads from beginning to end anyway . . . and even if you did it's like reading hieroglyphics. OK OK I have vented enough.

Does anyone know how to get my PC (running XP) to recognize any of my serial ports? I'm trying to be patient . . . . but I want to start using my $200 electronic clock / paperweight.

Thanks for any help . . . .

If you email me I can send you my XP Home exported Reg file for NeoEdit 1.3, this might help as I changed the "Connection" setting to "1", Or you can try changing it yourself, just run Regedit and look under

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Philips Electronics N.V.\NEOedit\1, 3, 4, 0\Settings]

and change to this:
"Connection"=dword:00000001

I have also read that it could be any number up to 4 I think, so you might have to try them all one at a time, just restart NeoEdit after making the changes.

Also, have you tried to Upgrade the Firmware yet? If you can do this, which seems to work as this is a different program and somehow finds the Neo remote better, then I'd have to say that it is more then likely this setting in the NeoEdit software thats your problem

Thankyou thankyou thankyou!!!! Now I can get on with programming the darn thing . . . your suggestion worked fine . . . it took when I changed the reg value (in Reg edit) to 2. Recognizes it every time now . . .

I'm glad to of helped, some other user was the one that found this out, and it seems to work. Might even help some out in other versions of windows as well. Hopefully Philip's programer's read this forum and fix the install program so it works a little better at finding the com ports like it should!
