We just purchased a ProntoNEO Universal Remote to use with our new audio/video equipment. Everything is still in the box, but I figured I'd set it up with our TV in the meantime, unfortunately without luck. Our Zenith TV uses a Next Level Communications remote which was provided to us by our digital cable provider. The Pronto will not accept the code for the remote when setting up the operation of the TV. It will accept it as a satellite remote which is where it is listed in the manual, but then it does not operate the TV. I've tried 'Learning' with the learning mode for the TV and it worked great for off, on, and volume, but it will not learn any of the other functions. I've replaced the batteries in the TV remote, but it made no difference. I've also read the FAQ's concerning the remote not learning and have followed all of those with no success either. Also have tried some of the suggestions I've found in the Pronto forums. Have this feeling of dread about the four new pieces of equipment! I'm hoping someone here can help me because I'm really excited to have one remote instead of five.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

I have had some luck with remotes that the NEO didn't want to learn by doing the following:

Persistance - although it has taken quite a while for several of my remotes - it has learned them all.

Aim
- try different angles from the NEO

Distance
- try different distances from the NEO

Length of time
- try depressing the key on the old remote that you want learned for various times - I found the NEO likes to learn some remotes with quick depresses and others with long held depresses.

Good Luck - my Apex DVD took me quite a while to learn. I used the above and it eventually did learn the buttons.
