I just downloaded and installed from this site: NeoEdit 1.3 (Version 1,3,4,0, Baseline BL_7887_17_4) Operating System: Win2K
While NeoEdit was running in the background, I unzipped, and then double clicked on the NCF file (also from this forum) from Rick Vanderwielen.
My hard drive started going crazy, and I noticed that files were missing. I quickly exited from NeoEdit, and my hard drive stopped. Using Norton SystemWorks, I was able to recove close to 1500 files, but still lost some. Norton reported that NeoEdit was the process that deleted ALL of those files!
Once I recovered my files, I decided to investigate this further - so I ran NeoEdit, and opened the NCF file from Rick from WITHIN NEOEDIT, with NO PROBLEM! I then went into explorer and double clicked on the NCF file, and sure enough, my hard drive went CRAZY!
MORAL OF STORY: don't double click on an NCF FILE!!!!
Philips - why does this happen?
