when I tried to download an ncf file it locked up my neo and gave a msg of "invalid cf version or corrupt flash. What to do next?? I tried to reset and still get same msg..

I also had the same problem, If you try a few more times to d/l you will get a message to reset the unit after cliking o.k., (remove the battery cover and you will find the reset button recessed in a hole) this always works for me. If not you may have a computer issue, ie usb adaptor or com settings issue.
This happens every d/l I do so I expect you will find the same. Hope this helps!

Yes, I found later that pressing the reset button still gives you the "invalid CF" message on startup, which was causing the confusion (I expected it to come up in a default mode). Despite the "invalid CF" message I downloaded the default.ncf file and everything finally came back up. Then I was able to download my "working" ncf and I was back in business.
