Hi all,
I have my Neo from the last few days and am having
trouble making it learn my most important remote,
Yamaha Receiver's remote keys.

As many people mentioned, Neo programmed codes are
totally useless.
I made Neo learn IR codes for my TV (Sony), DVD
player (Panasonic). Not much problems, though I had
some trouble teaching some keys from DVD remote.

But when I tried with Yamaha, it just does not work.
Are there any guidelines as to how to teach IR codes
from another remote to Neo? Or, is there an issue
with Yamaha remotes? If anyone made Neo work with a
Yamaha equipment, please share with me. The best
would be to send me the NCF file for RX-V995
receiver.

thanks in advance

I have a Yamaha HTR-5280 and my Neo has been able to learn every code that I have tried so far. Some codes take more tries than others. You can download my .ncf file from this site and see if my receiver codes work with the 995. Good luck, Dwayne.

Tell how you got it to learn Panasonic as I have had no luck with my DVD player or TV.

Your right about the preprogrammed codes.

Thanks Dwayne! I downloaded your ncf file and several
of the IR codes are same for HTR-5280 and RX-V995.
However, that is not complete as some IR codes are
different, as well as some keys on remote are
different. Atleast I can do basic operations rightnow.

I will try again for other keys. May be I will change the batteries in Yamaha remote. I have not replaced
them in 3 years!

Bob, I don't know what to say about your panasonic.
I first designed the screens I wanted (though pretty
simple --- no jazzy bit maps etc, yet) and then put
the Neo and Panasonic remote opposite to each other
and make Neo learn all keys. Some keys took few
attempts, but I could finish it less than 15 min's!

Once I am successful in making Neo operate my Receiver
and Sony CD changer, I will try to post it for others,
even if I don't have any fancy buttons. Others can
atleast don't have to repeat the learning process I
did.

Good luck,

Yes, fresh batteries in the "source" remote are essential. New batteries made a big difference in increasing the learning "rate" for many of my remotes when I was in the learning process.

I want to take back what I said about the preprogrammed codes. I must have set these wrong because I later did get my TV working with code set 0277.

In addition, I have been able to learn some of the Pansonic codes although it is a slow process. There is good advice on this in a response to "Need panasonic codes for neo" posted on 3/14 by Growly.

I am really starting to like this thing as it is doing all that I wanted.

I have a Yamaha RX-V620 and I have no problems to learn codes to my ProntoNeo. I place the Yamaha remote one inch in front of the Neo and hold the button two seconds.

The only thing I search is a method to power the receiver like a TV ON/OFF on the same button. The Yamaha have one button Power and another Standby...
