My MX-950 seems to want to keep the backlight on all the time while it's on the charging cradle. I can't remember if it's always done this (always being for the last day :) or whether this is new behavior, but it strikes me as sort of odd.

What's "normal"?

In my limited experience, the whole thing lights up for about 15 or 30 seconds when placed into the charging cradle.

On those instances when I returned to find it still lit up, it had frozen up and needed to be reset, either by removing and replacing the battery or by (somehow) pushing the little bitty silver button at the bottom of the battery compartment. (Although the 950 needs to be reset, the battery has been charged.)

This has happened to me about once every several weeks, which is a minor annoyance, but is far too frequent. I'm hoping that an upgrade will soon fix this and other freezing problems.

In other words, it is not normal, as far as I know, for the backlight to remain on all the time while it's on the charger, only for a brief period which I think is less than a minute.

I think the issue is caused whenever the MX-950 reboots to allow the new program that was configured to run and the cable is still attached to the mini USB. I ran to a lot of this issues when I was busy programming my remote.

I discovered that if I pull out the cable from the mini USB port when I see the "MX-950 Aurora" logo displayed after the MX-950 reboots, I wont be having the problem.

I believe the issue is caused by serial data overrun at the moment the new program in the MX-950 executes because there was still a handshake prior to its booting. I am hypothesizing that when the MX-950 editor completes its sending new program data to the MX-950, both these two guys dont terminate the handshake.

When you download your new program to the MX-950 and notices that it is rebooting, watch for the appearance of the logo. When you see it, immeidately pull out the mini USB cable. I believe that the issue wont be there anymore afterwards.

Post you observations once you have tried it.
Best Regards!

I believe the normal "On" time while on the charging station is 3 minutes. That's what mine does anyway.

Thanks, all. I'll keep a lookout for what it's doing. I may have been jumping the gun and expecting it to go out in the 10s/30s allotted time, rather than the 3 mins that Mike says, as it was out when I woke up this morning (and not frozen).
