Does anyone notice a slowdown in page jumps with this new update?

It is never
worth checking old model numbers, always use these
inclusive sets if your model number doesn't appear.

Why do you say this? I always ignore the ones at the bottom, as I assumed they were just generics, and would have more luck trying a similar model #

On this topic, is it just me, or is there a lack in IR updates? It seems that I rarely find the EXACT model # of the component Im working with, so I end up having to test other model #'s, (or the generics on rare occassion) and verify all buttons. Eventually Ill have my OWN database together of the components I use, labeled appropriately, but its not like Im using models/equipment that just came out last month. Prime example. Dish 942. how long have they been out? a year or 2 now? Yet its still not on the list. Now I know other dish codes are all the same, but thats because I have done enough of them, and becasue I am a Dish dealer and know that they all are identical anyway between models (for the most part.) But take another component. Marantz recievers. I DONT know what feature is different between model A and model B, and Im sure there ARE many differences as you go up the chain of model #'s. So I end up doing a trial and error of each model, and then going through and making sure ALL the buttons match up to the OEM remote. These are just examples. There have been many similar instances over the years, just dont recall specifics. Is it a matter of more feedback from us, and up-loads of model # specific code sets when we create them? Is there an easier way to upload them if that IS the case? (I tried it once on here w a H-Dila, and Im still not sure it made it through)

I must say that amidst all the updates, it doesn't matter which remote I'm programming - 700/800/850, consistantly over 20% of the time I'm in the middle of importing from another MX file and the program dumps. This has been going on since the 850 came out last year December. I've now designed 165 systems. Mostly HT/multiroom

When you re-open the program after the dump, I have to go find the file I was working on as well.

I've learned to save just before importing but this is getting a little old. Same thing happened when programming my first 950 as well several months ago.

If I'm the only one having this problem, I'll go through the trouble of reinstalling the programs (again).

The recommendation to use the inclusive code sets at the bottom of the list instead of trying other model numbers is in the programming guide, page 9. Here's the link to it:

As far as the editor crashing goes, I haven't had any troubles like that. If it were common, it would be all over the forum (and by now it would be fixed). I'd try uninstalling it, rebooting, and reinstalling.

Ditto on the importing "feature" - program crash..
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

This is absolutely rediculous! All this beta testing for weeks on end and not one person on the beta test team ran across any of these problems? Give me a break!

As a computer tech I can understand obscure anomolies that might get missed during testing but the problems that all of you are experiencing are problems that the common every day user would experience. How could they miss these "in your face" type of problems. Slow page jumps... Blank LCD button editor... It looks like URC needs to revamp their QC program.

No wonder some of the custom installers are jumping ship to other remote lines such as RTI.

I wish someone reverse engineers the remotes, that way can get rid of the MX Editor software and use own written firmare/editor like Rockbox for DAP's.
Shut it Dole scum! :-)

I saw this reference in the 950 manual, but never the 850. And I still pose the same question. Prior to the reference in the 950 manual, I assumed it was just generic codes, as I posted prior. I still pose the question as to what makes them different? Are they mre RECNT codes? If so, why not just label them to what they are from, instead of Dish 1, Dish 2, Dish 3, etc
