As noted in another thread, after 10 years of use of my MX-500 and MX-800s I'm finally stung by URC's decision in 2006 to restrict end users to getting upgrades to MX Editor for these devices.
The problem I'm having with the MX-500 and MX-800 is their inability to learn buttons from the Comcast DC50X DTA that I was recently forced to use to receive HD channels. Up until now I was happy using the old software and it doesn't look like I can get the newer software/firmware from anywhere.
So I'm considering downgrading to an RF20.
My questions regarding the RF20 are as follows:
1. Will the RF20 be able to learn the Comcast DC50X DTA buttons? In other words, does XMP based IR devices give the RF20 grief like its bigger siblings?
2. Can the RF20 be programmed with hex codes through its editing software? I like the ability to get Pronto hex codes and program my MX-800 buttons.
3. The RF20 should work with the same RF base as my MX-800? I 95% sure it does, but I just want to confirm this.
4. I don't go crazy with macros and I don't have a lot of devices to control with my MX-800. Will I be happy with the programability of the RF20?
Any other device on other remotes I might consider would be appreciated. I guess it's time I move away from the URC pro-series.
Thanks.
Mike
