I have a Outlaw 990 pre/proc that does not have a Power On button only a Power Off button but instead has direct Device input buttons that when pushed turns on the Outlaw, plus switching to that device. When I setup the Outlaw with the Pro Wizard it asked me to learn the Power On and Power Off buttons to the 810 but since I only have a Power Off on the Outlaw remote I learned it to both buttons on the 810.

Now in Activity Tune Up and under "Specify what's on, off or left alone" can I just tell it to leave the Outlaw alone to compensate for having programed Power Off to both Power On and Power Off on the 810 and since I don't need it anyway to turn on the Outlaw?

I didn't know if I could do this or if I had to find descrete On and Off codes for the Outlaw.

Yes, you can set it to leave the Outlaw alone.

I never turn off my PVR (Motorla 6416). It's always on and I've programmed my 810 to leave it alone.

That's great since that's the simplest thing to do so here's another question. On my MX-500 when I pushed the dvd device button I had a Macro running to change the input, turn on dvd, etc. including changing my Toshiba tv picture viewing mode which turns out to be "Full" mode for dvd watching. I then had a Macro programed to one of the M buttons (at the botton of the remote) to return to my Direct Tivo and more importantly switch my tv viewing mode back to "Theater 1" which is my main tv viewing mode (stretched) and is used for everything but watching dvds.

This setup works very well because I don't have to add an extra step to each device Macro (TV, Tivo, VCR) telling it to be on "Theater 1" since they all use the same picture mode.

Now with the 810 is there a way around not having to include that extra step in each device Macro telling it to be on "Theater 1" for the TV, Tivo, and VCR and to be on "Full" for DVD? When I'm just switching between TV, Tivo and VCR once it's on "Theater 1" I don't need the 810 to be told to keep switching to it (it's already there) but only when I'm switching between any of those three and DVD.

I think you have to program it into each macro, but the state recall of the 810 means that it will only fire the step if the viewing mode needs to change. That is the way state recall works with power and with inputs, so I assume it would also track other commands (not 100% sure on that though).

That's great hopefully the state recall does track other commands which definitely makes the remote more functionable.

I'm having more problems I can't figure out though:

1. Most of my equipment didn't have codes in the Pro Wizard database so I just selected whatever devices were similar to mine and proceeded to basically learn or relearn each button for each device. There are some buttons though I just can't seem to learn to for some reason and others when they do accept the signal from either the original equipment remote or my MX-500 they are sort of sluggish. I always mark the buttons as bad then try to relearn with the software saying the learning was good even though it wasn't. Am I doing something wrong?

2. On my original Outlaw pre/proc the volume up and down buttons lets me quickly ramp the volume up and down and I can also do this when learned to my 500 but with the 810 it's really sluggish and more often than not I have to step up or down in increments and I hate this. Shouldn't the 810 be able to function like the Outlaw or my 500 remote when it comes to the volume control?

3. Why do I have different screens when for example I want to watch my VCR. If I click on the Activities button and then select VCR I have 3 screens but when I select Devices and then VCR I have 2 screens?

The Device and the Activity pages are not tied together. The activity is a copy of the device at the point at which the activity was created. If you have changed the device since you created the activity than those changes won't be reflected.
