Hi,

I am considering one of these remotes and, in terms of capabilities, I believe either will be OK for me. I'm interested in the experiences of people who have actually used these devices.

The top priority for me is the ergonomics. I slightly prefer the layout of the buttons on the 810, but what do people think about the 'feel' of the buttons on these? Do they have a good feel, and give decent feedback to let you know they've been pressed? I hate 'mushy' buttons that you don't know if you've pressed properly. Is one remote better than the other? How about the up/down/left/right controller - is that easy to use?

Another priority is how quickly they respond. I'm used to my Sky box (satellite receiver) responding pretty much as quickly as I can press the up/down/left/right buttons. I've heard rumours of slight delays to button presses when using these remotes, but is that genuine, or can it be fixed by configuration settings? I find even a very small delay to be irritating for certain functions...

Thanks in advance,

Graeme

No-one has any opinion on this?

Ideally I would find a shop selling them and try them out for myself. Unfortunately, I live in the UK and the only way to obtain either of them is to buy it online from the USA.

I like the buttons on the MX-810. They have a different feel then some of the other URC remote I have used over the years. They are hard buttons and I don't find them to be mushy at all.

I have not any problem with response time but my none of my components respond particularly quick to begin with. The directional button works well with my dvr.

I have both. I like the layout and feel of the 810 buttons better, but they seem to require a more firm press. The only place I think I am noticing a delay is with the cursor pad. Definitely not sensing a delay with the hard buttons.

Thanks to both of you for the responses.

Johnny - if you don't mind me asking, how would you compare the cursor pad (the feel, and the delay) between the 2 remotes? I use it a LOT, so that's one of the most critical areas for me.

I just sat down with the 810 in my left hand and the 900 in my right and navigated my on screen guide with both remotes. There actually isn't a delay at all. It seems like there's one because the 810 requires a firmer press than the 900.

I actually prefer the feel of the 810 and I like the positive feedback of the 810's buttons better than the 900.
