I just received the MX-980 and updatable MX-980 Editor. Software was a breeze to use. Was able to figure out most of what i wanted to do and know i can dig deeper and do more customizing in the future. Love the remote... if i could only actually use it!

Unfortunately, when all was said and done in the editor.... i hit download and get "Check connection" I get the same error with any type of upload or download.

I assumed it was a driver issue, plugged remote into another usb port, it searched for a driver, and i get the error "windows found driver but encountered an error attempting to install it. (URC USB Sync MX)

I have read posts here that say the MX-980 Editor works with vista. I beg to differ unless im doing something wrong.

I am running:

Vista Ultimate

MX-980 Editor Version 1.00.002
IRDB version 1.82
Manager Version 1.0.2007.10221

Note: I know my vista sync center works as i was able to sync my Sprint TOUCH phone with no problems what so ever.

Any suggestions????

Yup your definately doing two things wrong.

1. Next time post in the URC Custom Pro section
[Link: remotecentral.com]

2. If Vista did not find the correct drivers, just head over to your device manager and point the MX-980 to this folder where the drivers are stored,

C:\Program Files\Universal Remote Control, Inc\MX-980 Editor\Usb

and make sure you have windows mobile device center (WMDC) installed
You win some, you loose some...
