I have an MX-850 and the Editor software. It seemed to work find using my desktop computer, but I just tried doing an upload from the MX-850 using the serial port on a Dell Latitude D610 Laptop, but it will not complete the upload. I can download fine, but the upload stops between 11% and 25% complete. There is no error message, it just stops uploading and allows me to hit the upload button again.

If I disconnect the cable from the MX-850, I do get an error message if I try to upload, so the cable is not bad. Any ideas?

Just try again. Honestly. I've mad many problems with the software, and if you just keep trying, reboot the software, reboot the pc, and try fresh batteries, eventually you'll get it to upload.

I did try rebooting the Laptop and for the first time it did upload to about 75% before it finally failed, so you are on the right track, but there is definitely a problem with running the editor software on the Dell D610 running XP Pro. I tried doing an upload with an older Dell Inspirion 7000 running Win 98 and it uploaded first time.

I may have to consider trying a USB to Serial Port or PCMCIA to Serial Converter just to see if it works more reliably.
