I just installed fresh batteries on a new MX-900. When booting up I was watching the screen and everything seemed normal except that when I saw ""IR OUT". Is this normal?. At first I thought I thought I may have received a defective mx-900. I did a quick test by just downloading one of my components off the IR databass and it seems to work fine. I made the leap from a MX-500 and I just never saw a "IR OUT" on the 500 when booting up. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

IR OUT is one of the tests it performs, yes.

I could swear the MX-500 tests IROUT too, although I can't quite remember. I know the MX-700 and up does.
