New in this forum and hopeful for some help. Long ago I purchased a Yamaha RXZ1. Shortly after the factory supplied pronto remote simply died. Yamaha refused to replace after a bloody war with the store "laserland" which soon thereafter went out of business. No suprise there. So I've been left with a half functioning Yamaha receiver. I purchased an MX700 but was frustrated with the lack of available codes for this particular receiver. Limping along, unable to for instance balance my gains for the various channels I purchased a Harmony remote 880. It's no better than the MX700 in that I still cannot adjust my gains on the Yamaha. Front channels L & R are nearly silent compared to the surround channels. I've never been a fan of this receiver due to the failure of it's remote, and the fact that sources attached to this unit simply get rolled off and compressed sounding. I call it the "music killer". Still for movies and TV, it's worth keeping if I can gain some functionality. I'm pretty frustrated at this point. Any help out there?
