There may be a better way of doing this - if so, please post your suggestions
There are a number of functions I'd like the iPronto to preform -
Access to my Sky+ browser when not sat infornt of the TV Access to MP3 files stored on my PC to make the iPronto the front-end of an MP3 jukebox
I've been looking at remote PC access as this would also enable me to schedule Sky+ programmes to record when I'm away from home via friend's/family's computers
The (very crude) method I'd thought of for this was to leave a cheap, server style PC hooked up to my broadband connection 24hrs with a video input running so I could use the iPronto's browser to log onto my remote access site and open a window to display whatever's being output by the Sky+ box at the time
Two questions -
i. Will I run into problems with this ? (are there certain formats which the iPronto browser can't handle - I noticed it doesn't like my wireless routers setup page) :-/
ii. Can you run NetX commands from a PC ? (if the iPronto isn't available)

Ans 1 - Probably The iPronto browser is very weak. It handles only the most basic (simple) web formats)
Ans 2 - I do not believe there is any documentation available to allow you to do that (I am not even sure what you mean by that) but in theory it should be possible. I wanted to make a PC operate as a NetX i.e. receive the RF (TCP/IP) from a iPronto and was never able to figure out how to do that. If a Had a free Netx (I sold the one I had) I would play some more with it. I believe if Philips provided a small PC program for a PC with a wifi card operating in ad hoc mode (I do believe that is the way the netx works, but am not sure) the would significantly increase the functionality of the iPronto and put it smack in the realm of AMX and Crestron user interfaces. They would open up the entire HA market to the iPronto.
But then again Philips does not listen to its iPronto customer base when asked to fix what does not work, to provide what they have marketed but not delivered as functionality, . . .
