I just got an Onkyo TX-NR646 AV receiver. I'm using harmony one remote. The OEM remote has a second room function/button - Zone 2, which you select first, then the AV power toggle to activate the second zone. However, there is no signal received from the harmony when trying to learn the Zone 2 command. i assume the Zone 2 button on the OEM remote just puts the remote in that mode, the red light does flash but again the harmony doesn't detect anything. any ideas how i can set this up - to allow the harmony to send commands to utilize my second listening area? thanks!

Typically zone 2 is a second device on harmony. Add zone 2 to the end of the model number when you search for it.

Harmony software sometimes hides the power commands. But you should at least be able to specify that the Zone 2 device be powered on in your new Zone 2 activity. The power commands for the Zone 2 device will likely just have names like Standby, Power On, Discrete On, Power toggle, Standby toggle, etc.

There is no technical reason you can't learn from the original remote though. Have you learned other commands to your One before? It's been a long time since I've used a One, but I think the IR learning receiver is at the bottom of the remote, not the top.

In any case, you can send a request for the IR codes to onkyoadmin@us.onkyo.com , then send the desired codes to datasupport@logitech.com to be added to your account. Alternately, you can create an account at the site below and download the code list for the 626 which likely has exactly the same codes as yours.

I'm not clear on exactly what command(s) you're looking for, but these are my best guesses:

thanks so much -yes i've been a long time harmony user and have learned commands on the One and previous harmonys before that. the issue is the Zone 2 changes the remote itself to functioning only for that zone 2. you have to set up a second device as zone 2 then learn the commands. thanks again - i appreciate the help.

Yes, the original remote sends zone 2 commands when you press the button. But I don't see what that has to do with your issue (missing commands). I gave you all the zone 2 commands, and the Logitech database already has most of the zone 2 commands if you specify "zone 2" when adding the device. Why do you have to learn any of them? You are creating unnecessary work for yourself. But if you're happy, I'm happy.
