Bought new 2008-09-15

First impressions...

Clever design with poor engineering.
Limited range and very prone to errors if remote is not precisely aimed.
Battery life when not cradled < 12 hours.
Wonderful when it works, which is not often.

Bottom line - If you have a complex HT setup in a large room with a ceiling mounted rear projector this remote might not be right for you.

Your specific points are not typical, and suggest that you have a faulty remote, which the supplier or Logitech should replace.
The One normally comes ready charged and is meant to be left on the base whenever it's not in use.

I bought the Harmony One to use with my main room setup (replacing a 670). I had an issue with mine in that unless the remote was precisely aimed at the TV IR sensor it would not control the TV. This was specifc to my TV only (Toshiba CRT). The One controlled all other components just fine (without having to be too concerned about where the remote was pointing)
I eventually had to use the One in a different room with a Panasonic TV and it has no issues there.
It seems it can be picky with some TV brands.

In that case it's not the remote, it's the TV's IR sensor.

Not necessarily... It could very well be that the Toshiba's IR frequency is simply at a range that the One has issue reproducing. Although, seeing as he made no mention whether or not his display's OEM remote having the same touchy use, I'd say your most likely correct in your assumption.

I simply meant that if it works with all other components including another TV without having to aim it precisely, then the remote itself is probably not at fault. I wasn't implying that the TV's IR sensor was faulty, only that it wasn't receiving the harmony IR signal very well.

Sorry...my bad.

Still it would be nice to know how well the OEM remote functioned.

Try increasing the "Repeats" setting for the TV.

To adjust the repeats setting for a device:

Click the Devices button on the home page.
Click the Troubleshoot beside the appropriate device.
Select Show me more problems and click Next.
Select Device does not appear to receive every command correctly and click Next.
Select The device responds too much to some commands (for example, volume up increases the volume too quickly and click Next.
Increase the repeat value. The default is 3. Click Save.
After you have adjusted the Repeat settings and you have made all the changes you wish to make, click Update Remote to save these changes to your remote.
Note: If you still experience the same results, increase the Repeat setting again. This time, try 5.

Thanks,

Just bought a One and it works with my toshiba CRT just fine. But..I have
a cable DVR and about the only thing I do with the One for the TV is power on/off
and control volume.

Yes, that's quite normal for WatchTV Activities.
The only TV command in mine is the Aspect button.

If you had an A/V receiver you would only turn the tv on and off. It's just a monitor in that case.
