I'm new to the One...really like it lots. But I do find I like to surf through my Directv menus/guides...which means I'm hititng the channel up/down buttons for extended periods of time (minutes)...all the time the One's LCD touch screen is displaying buttons I don't need/will not be needing anytime soon.

So, is there a way to disable the touch screen from coming on until I actually touch the screen (just disable the motion sensing and the auto-on with a button press)?? This could save loads of battery life I'm sure.

Mike.

Hi again!
For others here - it's fine to leave the One on the base whenever it's not in use.

I don't know about the One, but for the 6xx series, you can change the Glow settings under "Remote Settings > Display Settings" to select which buttons turn the backlight (Glow) on automatically:
o Any Button
o Interactive Display Buttons
o None
