I don't think I do things the way the examples do. As a result I haven't had to do this. The names of the menus is fairly straight forward. For example: device_activity_ModePlay.
I sort of cheated and used the Change Button option to get the all the parts to the activity name name. Then I figured out the one I needed and use that.
I skip all the configurator stuff and just hard code everything. I use one change button command for each menu (I used the zap) and inside the XML code for that button change I add my new options. Just insert your code between the last command and the line.
