Here is another..."Will Harmony do this?"
In order to watch a DVD, my DVD player (panasonic), my A/V receiver (denon) and my TV (sony) needs to be powered on.....not a problem. My TV, needs to be on VIDEO 5 or VIDEO 6, BUT the original remote doesn't have direct video inputs. I know that the discrete codes for all video inputs are available for the pronto unit, but how would that work with THIS remote. Any help or advice, would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, I currently do not own a sony remote that has that capability, although I know they do exist.....so.....I can't TEACH the harmony that command.

THANKS...Mark

Hi Mark,
I have a similar situation with a Toshiba TV however I only have 4 inputs, TV-Video1-Video2-Video3 with no discrete codes for each input. You tell the Harmony what input the DVD is on. It builds a state table in the XML code to keep track of the input state of the last device. Let's say you are watching Video 1. Now you select Watch DVD and the Harmony sends out the commands to go to Video 6 just like you would from the remote, by depressing the Input key 5 times. I hope this helps without being too confusing.

Thanks for your reply....... here is another question to make it a little more complicated. All of the inputs are not active, so it is only 3 presses to get to input #6. I guess I would just tell act as if there are only 3 or 4 inupts total. There is another button that changes the aspect ratio.....different uses for different inputs....I assume it would work the same way? Thanks again!!

Mark,
Yes, you are correct if the TV skips inputs because they are not active I would tell the setup that it only has 3 or 4.

My Toshiba is also a widescreen. Using the wizards did not allow me to setup a state variable for the widescreen mode. I had to manually add the state variable with the corresponding widescreen modes to the TV Device by modifying the XML for that device. After you add the state variable you need to modify each of Watch Activities to indicate which widescreen mode you wish to use for that activity (modes you defined manually in the TV device). There are directions on the website under the Help/FAQ section that describes how to do this.
