I want to be able to use my receiver that's in the interior of the house from it's remote control while outside (already have the outdoor Polk's under the eaves). It's a pain in the neck having to go halfway into the house with the IR remote to change CD's or just turn the volume up or down. Any reasonable fixes to this dilemma?

Wired IR repeating system? RF remote attachment? You might be a candidate for the Zenith "Space Command", which is an RF adaptor that fits in the battery case of the remote. No one knows how well they work though.
