I have a Toshiba 3108 DVD player....recently, I began having trouble playing some new DVDs. I get the "pleas check disk" error message). These are new disks! They seem to be "new releases" for example: Gladiator, Mission to Mars, Mission Impossible, ect.--Yes, they are North American disks.
My question is: Has anyone experienced this problem before? Many (most) disks do play fine. Is it time for a new DVD(its not that old)? Or am I jsut missing something?

Sounds like it may be time for a firmware upgrade. Try calling an authorized service center and see if they can help you. Best of luck.---Dave

I had the same problem. I spoke with a local repair place and with the price they quoted me I decided to go out and buy a new player from another manufacturer. Brad
