Just saw it last night at home for the second time. First being in the theater. Absolutely love this movie. Will probably watch a million times over.
But I can't figure out why in the world do you need a hardline in a virtual world? It's a virtual world where an actual physical connection doesn't exist except for the cable wired to their brains.
Any ideas? Or is there a website where this profound subject is addressed?

Speaking of plot holes...
I've always wondered why the Terminator, when tracking someone, saw a "heads up display" of information presented over his field of vision. What if he gets an eye poked out? Shouldn't this info be fed directly into his CPU, instead of displaying it for him to read?
And what about ET? At the end of the movie he and the kid flew away to reach the spaceship and allow ET to escape. Why didn't he just fly at the beginning of the movie, instead of running through the woods? That way he wouldn't have been left behind and the whole movie would have been three minutes long.
Enquiring minds want to know...

More importantly shouldn't you be asking how real is real? Could it be possible that the "real" world is merely a more subtle version of the program, for the more difficult of subjects. How do you know?
You could do your head in on this stuff.
