Howdy all,

I'm in the market for a portable DVD player.

I currently don't know much about what's available
out there and am looking to you all for some help in this area.

I've seen that they have come down in price quite a bit over the last year. Some have larger screens than others, etc.

I'd like to get your recommendations.

Although for the most part, this unit will have access to external power, I would like to know what battery life is like on these units. Do they have "replacable" batteries, i.e. is it possible to have a couple NiMH packs for those long trips (on planes)?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanx!

I think right now Sharp & Panasonic are generally considered at the top.

Lap tops with DVD are looking very good these days price wise. Less the $1200 would get ya a nice big screen, and a pretty powerful full fledged computer to boot. I have seen them under $1,000 used/lower end models. Just another option to think about...

Panasonic LV75 is fantastic, excellent 7inch screen and sound and battery lasts just about 4 hours.

Also have the Pioneer LC-10 very similar but batteries are camcorder versions and are seriously heavy.

Dickhead! Isn't a laptop with 15 inch better than a player with 7 inch screen? A Toshiba Celeron laptop is cheaper than any portable player with built in screen, and it is not just a DVD player, it's a cd/mp3/mpg/divx-player with a wordprocessor too.
