I've heard of Sony has a new firmware for 850D, but is it official yet? Do all the vendors aware of it? I walked into a local Sony Store (where I bought the player from), they told me they haven't heard of it. However, they're offering me if they do get a new unit, I can bring my player in, and they'll exchange a new one for me.

Also, what does the firmware exactly fix? Thanks

When i spoke to sony on the phone about saving the program, I asked about the firmware the person i spoke to didn't know a thing about it. She said sony won't up date it they will just put out a new model with all of the bugs out.

I'm a bit confused about the firmware situation. I've just got my CX850 from Techtronics (UK). I was waiting for about 6 weeks or so because they didn't have any in stock as they were waiting for Sony to update the firmware, so I was under the assumption that I had an updated model. From my experiences with it though, I'd have to say I've either got an old model (I'll check with Techtronics) or Sony still haven't got ot right!
