I just bought a Sony DVP-C650D DVD Player. The main reason I bought it was that it could play video CD's. My goal was to take all my home movies and create Video Cd's from them so they will last forever. I am having trouble getting the to play in the dvd player. Is this dvd player capable of playing homemade vcd's created on CDR's?? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I'm using Adeptec Easy CD creator. I can write a whole 50 minutes so far but it won't play in the DVD player.

The 650 can't read CDRs (at least not the majority of them). You'll need to burn on CDRWs.

Eddie,

I also have an Adaptec Easy CD creator, and I have a card in my pc that can capture from my sony HI8 camcorder is S-VHS Quality.

Can you tell in what format to save the video to get it to play on a dvd with video CD capability ?

Thanks in advance

I am actually using Dazzle video capture to create the mpg files. It is VERY flakey though. As long as I leave Dazzle open I can create the video cd's with Adaptec. The second I close Dazzle, it somehow changes the mpg header and forces the mpg to be in a higher resolution which Adaptec won't recognize.

at the moment i'm converting dvd to video cd. once i've ripped the sound + vision from the dvd (for back up only of course) i use the the xingmpeg encoder to convert the files into a vcd pal format. the xing encoder can convert nearly all types of film files to vcd mpeg format. then i use "nero burning rom version 4.0.83 to create my finished vcd. not one has failed yet. but i'm still having problems capturing more then 30 mins of video from a video recorder. does anyone know of any good software to go with my video capture card.***** have a look at [Link: dvdpiracy.com] lots of good down loads for creating your own vcd's
