This 200 disk machine looks good apart from a few glitches in software and I'm hoping Sony will improve it. Maybe they are. Take a look at:

[Link: techtronics.com]

They have held up suppling, waiting for new firmware version from Sony. Anyone know any details about what improvements have been made?
I.E. is it just a tweak for the occasional lip-sync problem, or does it address the disk explorer and disk naming issues?

The prices indicated for the upgrade were in "pounds". OK for overseas but what about US players?

The firmware has been updated. New supplies have arrives in the UK and as we speak, mine is on its way to me from Techtronics. My understanding is that the improvements are principally to the explorer - I wasn't aware that there was a lip sync problem.

So can we ship back the unit to Sony to get the new firmware?

I've just taken delivery of a supposedl modified CX850. I have to say, the user interface is extremely irritating. I only have a half dozen discs, but the player hasn't recognised any of the titles or jacket pictures. This wouldn't bother me so much if you could easily select a disc by number rather than having to go through an endless cycle of pressing the Display and arrow keys etc. It's crazy that you should end up having to press a dozen keys just to select a disc.

Simon - I may be back to ask questions about how you successfully get your Pronto to operate the unit! (In particular getting round the Resume feature)
