You are right, it is hooked up from my dvd player to my reciever then to my vcr. I am getting a new sony 32 incher with s video tomorrow, and I cant wait. I am pretty sure my friend with the same problem has it hooked up to a vcr to because the tv he is using is a 25 inch screen and most dont have video inputs. I appreciate your help.

Glad I could help. I was in the same boat when I first got my 3109. I have a 25" Magnetbox with only an RF input. I could not not afford a new TV, so I got Radio Shacks RF modulator for $30. Tell your friend this is cheaper option for solving the problem. It works great and passes a very clean signal (I didn't notice any picture noise).
Just a thought...
