o.k., this is very base, but is it worth buying a DVD player for the following: Sony 27" Trinitron -NO S-video input (1 video), Sony ProLogic receiver and Sony hifi VCR (movies sound great). I've decided to hold off on a new TV until digital gets more realistic, so will DVD just be an act of frustration?
Please help as my kids are driving me nuts for a DVD!!!!

DVD is most defintley worth it 3 times better picture even with the composite video input and if you think sound is good on your vcr try the digital sound of dvd's although you might want to consider an inexpensive upgrade to a dloby digital recevier. You can probably buy a DVD player for as little as $150 and if you wait till after christmas there's no telling how much further the price will drop.

No regrets.

There's no comparison between VHS and DVD... even using just composite video and ProLogic audio you'll see a huge difference.
