I recently bought the region 2 version of the matrix but it wont load on my Samsung 709.
HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Well, the Samsung 709 is one of the players that has difficulty with The Matrix, but I believe it should still TRY to play it. You may wish to contact Samsung, I believe a firmware update is available.

There is now a firmware upgrade available, I have had my Samsung DVD909 upgraded and it now plays The Matrix!!! HOOORAY...
Also I believe there is a region code mod that also disables macrovision.

How is a DVD Player firmware upgrade performed? Is it something that can be done at home or do you have to take the DVD Player to a service center?

Take the player back to the shop, press issues of firmwae upgrade out, tell the retailer to contact samusng customer services if they dont know of this firmware upgrade, the shop does need to do it.....
