anyone know which format if either this movie will be released on? if so, when can we expect it to be available?
it seems new releases are quite delayed in being released to the HD formats. i was hoping to wait for HD beofre watching this movie, as i saw the trailer via my xbox360 in HD and it LOOKS AMAZING!

Didn't HD just sign a big contract with a large porn company.
Didn't Betamax lose because they did not want to be a part of porn, but VHS embraced the industry. Who had the better product?? And who is still around??

The important thing to remember is that Sony/Blu-Ray owns Columbia Tristar and MGM, so you'll never see any of those movies out on HD-DVD. Universal is currently HD-DVD only, however they aren't owned by HD-DVD so if the market turns towards Blu-Ray they'll just support both.
Sales of media for both formats are about even now, with HD selling fewer players but more movies per player, and BD selling more players but fewer movies per player. It's hard to tell who's going to win at this point.

$599 is still an "OUCH" when it comes to buying a media player for media you can't rent locally in most places yet.
Given very functional and feature-rich DVD players can be had for <$50 and you can find models for <$30, it's very hard to believe any HD-DVD or Blu-Ray deck is not incredibly profitable for the manufacturer right now, even when "on sale".
