Hello folks,
This may be a simple issue for many of you, but I must admit to not knowing much
about this subject.
I have a DVD (not copy protected) which I have used Nero to make an image copy now stored on the hard drive. I have no difficulty using Nero to burn this image to a disk, but I want to go in and edit the content and extract pieces here and there to make a new video. I have Showbiz and of course Windows movie maker but they don't seem to recognize the .nrg format.
Is this possible? What do I need to use or should I conver the .nrg format to VOB or something else?
Any help or direction (or tell me I just can't) would be appreciated.
Thanks..

Subwoff,
files with the .nrg extension are proprietary of Nero. I do not belive you can just rename the files from .nrg to .vob like you can rename a .vob to .mpeg or .mpg. I do know that you can use "daemon-tools" to mount .nrg files and then use DVDDecrypter to burn it just like an .iso.

Here is a link for daemon
[Link: daemon-tools.cc]

Unfortunately, Macrovision Europe acquired the rights to the DVD decrypter software and forced most third party distributors to remove the freeware (including Afterdawn). I'm not sure where you can now get a copy, sorry :>( Perhaps a Google search will find it. I do know that a prog named MagicISO can handle .nrg files but this is a pay for prog. You can find MagicISO here: [Link: magiciso.com]

Good luck,
Erock

I'll send you a copy of DVD Decrypter if you need it. But google it and you should find it. Tell me if you'd like it emailed.

If you do get it to mpeg you can use Windows Movie Maker.

nero has software called nero recode which you can use to extract certain chapters and make a new dvd from it... or you can transcode it to nero video file like .nrg which is neros own version of .H264 format... because the file extention is proprietary to nero its unlikley that youll find other software that will work with it.... but if you use nerovision express you can edit your nrg files all you want... hope this helps

oh yeah.... once you have your completed "edited" file you can also use nerovision express to transcode it back to mpeg2 in vob format and make a dvd out of it...
