I have a friend who has this recorder and says it doens't work well with Comcast. He claims he can't get any channel listings so he has no idea what programs are coming up without looking at a hard copy channel listing. He thinks that Comcast is blocking the DVR.
Anyone else have any experiences with this unit? Is it Comcast or does he have a defective unit?

Mitch57, I have that sony unit on Charter Communications Cable here in Michigan and find the TV guide and channel listing, at times, can be a drag. When I first installed mine the unit searched for all the channels on the cable and it took 5 days before the guide appeared. Remember that unit has a cable card slot that will be required if you want any of your CATV digital channels and the cable companys channel line up. An example would be before I had the card installed I could not receive the CBS-HD channel from them. I could get it from the OTA antenna. After the card was installed, all their channels were available. As for the TV-Guide, I have been waiting 3 days for it to "reload" after a power outage. I wish it was faster to appear, but it does not appear to be.
