At $90,000, it better be able to drive me to the store, drive me home and help put my groceries away.

It's made by Goldmund for those with more money than sense.

The "Emperor's New Clothes" syndrome.

"Now that I've heard about this player, how on earth can I justify NOT buying it? What would it say about me if I 'settle' for a lesser machine?"

Fear of being called a "tin-ear".

I like to point out that, for those who fret over the last Nth of signal quality, they justify the ultimate signal degradation by experiencing a recording and not the live event.

And I thought that being able to afford 'B&O' was Gods way of saying you've got too much money.

Limited in production to 50 units, it will also become a collectible item of extreme rarity which will keep its value over the years and decades to come.

lol

yes, in a few months when Blu-Ray and HD-DVD will come out and in a few years when DVD is all but a memory, you will think that 90k was well invested.

Coming to a parking near you soon; a white van chock-full of Goldmund Eidos Reference universal DVD players. A snip at $2500 each.

DJY you are doing it all wrong

1) write article that says it is worth 900,000$
2) get van and offer it for 200,000$
3) let them negotiate down to 100,000$

I did consider the above, but on the basis there are very few people walking around with a $100,000 in their pocket (sorry, no cheques, no credit cards) I thought I might have better luck sticking a $50 dvd player in a "custom" case (just don't leave it out in the rain).
