I'm new in this field. Is all DVD's in wide 16:9 aspect. (Can the players switch do other)
I've got a 76cm direct view (CRT) TV and if you only can see the movie in 16:9 the picture will be too small.
If the above is true! -> New TV! (and new wallunit)!
How good is the quality of PC based player?

DVDs come everywhere from 1.33:1 (standard 4:3 TV) to 2.35:1 ("wider" than 16x9)... a few musicals are even higher ratios.

29" TVs are actually OK for widescreen, assuming it's of good quality and you're not sitting TOO far away.
