Does anyone know of a place one can go to see a list of the DVD titles currently available which are still due the anamorphic widescreen treatment, including announcements when said titles are going to be re-released as such?

Try the DVD forum at DVDtalk.com. They have an extensive re-release list in one of the "sticky" threads with pending, possible, rumor, definite, etc. It's a start.

Thanks for the suggestion! I will hit up that site this evening to see what I find. :-)

I just broke down and purchased the Matilda: Special Edition "Region 2" DVD which is in widescreen. The region 1 releases to date continue to offer Pan & Scam only!

I have from R2:

The Sting
My Name is Nobody
2 Trinity movies
Office Space

because of non-anamorphic R1 releases. Actually, maybe the Sting is non-anamorphic from R2. That may be an OAR issue instead.

My Sony DVP-CX985V changers will not read PAL discs. After encoding this Region 2 PAL DVD to my hard drive (making it region free while I was at it) I still had to figure out a way to get my Sony changer to read the disc. Via the post here over at the videohelp.com forums I was able to modify the .ifo files prior to burning to DVD+R making the disc NTSC. Sure enough my Sony DVD player plays the disc. I could not be more pleased. Anyway, just thought I'd share for anyone looking to play PAL discs in DVD players which will only play NTSC. :-)
