Seem to be having a "Senior Moment"! I saw a thread concerning a similar problem so I hope I'm not being redundant. Need to connect a
Panny E85HS recorder to my Sony tv and Denon 1601A/V rec. No cable
box. Would someone be kind enough to hold my hand and walk me through the necessary cable connections. By the way - no Component ins or outs on the receiver, only S video. Also there are dig. audio connections on the receiver and recorder. Thanks in advance!!

Digital audio from E85 to receiver. Component video (red/blue/green RCA jacks) from E85 to TV. That should be it.

For using it, you have to switch inputs on both the receiver and the TV with this setup.

Couper,

We need to know how you plan on using the recorder. If it is for dvd playback only, than spiky's setup will work fine. If you want to record programs off cable or tv over the air, than you need to run your cable feed or antenna into the Panasonic and make sure you do an auto program of channels on the recorder.

With this configuration you are basically turning your tv into a monitor, but that is not a problem.
I never drive faster than I can see, and besides that, its all in the reflexes.

Thanks much Spiky and Hoop. Not having component ins on my tv I used the audio and svideo outs from recorder to tv and optical cable between recorder and amp. And of course cable into recorder and then to tv. Being me, I was trying to make things more complicated than necessary! Thanks again.

Duh. Sorry, I forgot to mention that. Must've been tired.
